Workforce Development
The Connexions south London Sub-Regional Unit has run a comprehensive Work Force Development program, the courses were well attended and had a valuable impact on the knowledge of the workforce. A total of 138 spaces were taken up by PA’s on our courses over a two year period. We commissioned delivery of a wide range of courses for PA’s ranging from housing and homelessness to life coaching skills and gang culture.
The courses we ran were rated good or excellent by 98% of PA’s. Below is a brief outline of the courses we ran and some positive feedback from attendees.
Common Assessment Framework:
This course aims to enable participants to develop knowledge of the process, rationale and potential benefits of the Common Assessment Framework It covers the principles underlying the 18 factors of the assessment profile; completing an assessment- using a case study; personal action planning within the CAF framework; and what CAF is.

Gang Culture:
This gangs’ awareness multi-agency training has been developed in partnership with the practitioner forum. The purpose of the training is to provide staff with an insight into gangs, recruitment, risk and protective factors, and will equip practitioners with the tools they need to identify young people at risk of joining or already involved in gang activity.

Teenage Mental Health:
This course covers the behavior associated with mental health and ADHD whilst exploring both the effects and side effects of the various medications. It includes:
- Strategies for working with young people with ADHD/ mental health needs
- What is mental health
- ADHD- the facts
- Myths surrounding ADHD
- Medication used to treat mental health
- Setting boundaries
- When to refer
- How can I get help; useful organisations

A successful and dynamic inspiring two-day course that will give you over fifty different tried and tested motivational techniques to use when working with hard to reach young people. The course aims to utilise the best techniques from a range of specialist areas including neuro linguistic programming, life coaching, motivational interviewing and visualisation exercises. This course will enable practitioners to motivate and move young people’s lives forward.
